Welcome
A welcome from the headteacher, Jenny Lewis
Welcome to Thornhill Primary School’s website.
At Thornhill our curriculum aims to inspire children to learn, celebrating the rich diversity within our community. It places the child at the centre of learning, nurturing each individual, enabling them to develop interpersonal skills, build resilience and become creative, critical thinkers.
Our curriculum provides opportunities for all children, breaking barriers and stereotypes. We pride ourselves on having a curriculum that gives a voice to all children enabling them to play a major role in their learning journey.
We want our children to love learning and develop skills for life. We believe high quality learning experiences in the classroom and beyond empower our children to become highly successful learners. We achieve this by equipping our children with essential learning toolsets, commonly referred to as the Thornhill Toolbox.
Enrichment Friday is a critical part of our curriculum. We provide a myriad of enrichment activities which run from Nursery to Year 6. Enrichment gives all children the same opportunities to develop a large variety of essential skills beyond the classroom, partnering with organisations, businesses, universities, parents and members of our local community.
Our staff, parents and governors are dedicated, to working in harmony to support the aspirations of the school setting high expectations for all.
At Thornhill our values are helping ourselves and others to learn by:
- Leading by example
- Trying our best
- Displaying good manners
- Keeping ourselves and others safe
- Following instructions
Our website is only a glimpse of what makes Thornhill a unique and special place. I hope you find it useful and it gives you some insight to our values and what we do.
