Introduction

Welcome to the Governors pages of Thornhill Primary School's website. Thank you for showing and interest in what we do as a governing body. Thornhill's School Governors are the critical friend of the school and work with the Head Teacher & Senior Leadership Team and are legally responsible for ensuring the school provides the best possible education to all its pupils according to their needs and abilities and that the school is well-managed and financially sound.

We are all volunteers from various backgrounds and careers and use our acquired skills and knowledge to help shape the strategic direction of Thornhill Primary and to safeguard the public interest in the school.

We do not get involved with the day to day running of the school; this is the responsibility of the Head Teacher and The Senior Leadership Team. We ensure that they are accountable for the decisions and actions taken, and that standards of achievement continue to improve. We are also responsible for ensuring that the school’s policies and administration meet statutory requirements and that our children are able to maximise the vast array of educational opportunities that Thornhill Primary School provides.

We are extremely proud of our school and feel privileged to support Jenny Lewis the Senior Leadership Team and all the dedicated staff in delivering outstanding education opportunities for all the children at Thornhill Primary School.
