29 Apr St Vincent Appeal
Dear Parents and Carers,
As you may have seen in the news, over the Easter holidays there was a huge volcanic eruption on the Caribbean island of St Vincent. The impact of the La Soufrière volcano has not been widely reported on these shores but it has caused huge devastation to an island already reeling from the effects of the global pandemic—thousands of residents have been evacuated from their homes and all of the schools in the green zones have been taken over by the residents in the red and amber zones.
We would like to buy learning resource packs, pencils, pens, colouring materials etc. to support the children and schools that have been so badly affected. We are also accepting donations of children’s clothes, toys, books and toiletries to send in barrels to Stubbs Government School in St Vincent.
If you can, please consider donating via Parent Pay or bringing in any of the items listed above. There will be donation boxes placed at the main gates on Thornhill Road each morning and afternoon for the children’s clothes, toys, books etc. until Friday 14th May. Please ensure that the clothes are weather appropriate for the Caribbean and are in good condition.
Finally, thank you to Mr Andrews who is running a 10k on Saturday 8th May to raise money for the cause. If you wish to donate to his cause directly, you will find his GoFundMe QR code on this week’s newsletter.
