19 Nov Inspire Remembrance Trip
Y5 and Y6 went on a trip on Friday 9th November to participate in a special event to commemorate 100 years since the end of WW1. INSPIRE Peace events were held nationwide and we were privileged to be a part of the flagship event held at Friends House in London.
Our children performed beautifully ‘In Flanders Fields’ by John McCrae: first as a poem, which was read by Yunus Kuzeyi and Ella Ryan-Fisher, then as a song. Other schools presented their commemorations, along with some key notes by guest speakers whom had worked all over the world to inspire peace in war-torn countries.
As part of INSPIRE, children nationwide have been engaging in a range of peacebuilding activities, reflecting on the impact of bombing from Hiroshima to Coventry; training in conflict resolution and exploring reconciliation. Our event culminated in us presenting peace cranes we had made as a contribution to a special peace installation, which is available for all to visit at Friends House.
